Have you ever been offered something and you refused it then later found out that you should have accepted the offer and have to tactfully ask for it or use your dictatorship skills to get it? This was Modadeola’s dad’s story last week Tuesday.
Modadeola was supposed to travel home but due to unavoidable circumstances, she couldn’t leave her location till very late in the evening. She was rather surprised when her dad kept calling her to find out how far out she was from home. After all, her dad wasn’t one to be overly worried when she was on such trips. She arrived home very late so she waited till morning to find out from her mum why her dad had been on her case all evening. Her mum gave a hearty laugh and narrated what had transpired.
Mum: Daddy, what do you want for dinner?
Dad: I want semovita.
Mum: Okay, I’ll make it for you.
Dad: No oh, I’ll wait till Modadeola returns. She makes it better than you do.
30mintes later and Modadeola is yet to reach home.
Mum: Should I make the semo for you now? It is getting late and I think Modadeola is still stuck in traffic.
Dad: I’ll still wait for Modadeola.
Mum: Okay o. Suit yourself.
Two hours had passed and there was still no sign of Modadeola. This time it was dad’s turn to find mum as he could not withstand the pangs of hunger again.
Dad: Shey someone will not eat in this house this night?
Mum: I thought you said you’ll wait for Modadeola to return na?
Dad: So you’ll not give me food again because of that?
Mum: Please wait for Modadeola o because I’m tired and ready to go to bed.
Dad: You don’t even know how to pet someone. Oya please na, I’ve called Modadeola and she’s still far out. I’m really hungry and can’t wait again.
Mum finally made food for my dad, but I’m sure next time my dad won’t take such risks with his meals. Hehehe…
