The sassy receptionist

Recently, I was in a new city for a few days. I had neither family nor friends to put up with so I had to make sleeping arrangements. I was hoping I could find some place comfortable and affordable close to the venue of my conference.

As I roamed the nearby streets seeking a place that would suit this description, I ran into this plush looking building. The place looked beautiful but deserted. They seemed like they hadn’t had customers in a few long days. I was about to find out why shortly. I approached the receptionist cautiously. She was a young beautiful lady with zero manners. She was in the middle of a discussion at the time so I greeted her nicely, hoping to get her attention, but instead, I got the coldest reaction of my life. The one with whom she was gisting even asked to come back later but she told him not to worry that I had eyes and could see the price list on display. OMG, such effontery! I immediately knew she had sized me up and decided that I couldn’t afford a room there. I looked at the prices they offered. On a good day, I would pay for the room conveniently, but I felt really insulted by her reaction, so I turned around and left. I didn’t even feel like disappointing her judgmental mind, she wasn’t worth the shocker anyways. They’d lost one customer that night.

As I crossed the walkway into an adjacent hotel with friendlier reception, I could not stop wondering how many more customers the business would have to lose with that receptionist still manning that frontdesk. I wish all employers of labour will be more particular about the courtesy level of their employees, especially those at the front-end. Most of them won’t be out of business so quickly if they paid closer attention.

That’s how some employees careless about the progress of their employers, forgetting that they are also growing to become employers. The rightful owner of a business doesn’t joke with their customers comfort…. But, just pay someone to work for you… Then you’ll hear stories.

I have had similar case but at a place i eat around my work place. I dunno if it’s because she is the only one selling close by and u know we all look easy things, i went to eat with my money by 12 noon and waited till 12:50pm no food was served to me and wen i asked why she said if i didn’t see she was attending to others and now is my turn. I told her it was not right and most of them came to met me there or is it because am a lady or am small and i had made my order before them, as she just dropped the food i stood up and left quietly. How many minutes was i going to use to eat the food, break is over by 1pm and am quit a slow eater….
